Proteases

A selection of specific proteases are available that are designed for use in peptide fragmentation for mass spectrometry analysis or protein sequencing. For full details of the following proteases go to the Protein Sequencing & Mass Spectrometry Analysis Tools section (pages 95-100).

Proteases available:

  • MSG-Trypsin™: A mass spectrometry grade trypsin, see figures below.
  • SG-Arginine-C™: For the specific hydrolysis of the carboxy peptide bond of arginine for protein sequencing.
  • SG-Aspartic-N™: For the hydrolysis of peptide bonds on the N-terminal side of aspartic acid and cysteine residues for protein sequencing.
  • SG-Chymotrypsin™: For the hydrolysis of peptide bonds on the carboxy side of tyrosine, phenylalanine and tryptophan for protein sequencing.
  • SG-Lysine-C™: Cleaves peptide bonds at the carboxy side of lysine for protein sequencing.
  • SG-Glutamic-C™: Cleaves peptide bonds at the carboxy side of either aspartic or glutamic acid for protein sequencing.
