Antibody Production & Purification

The use of peptides for the generation of antibodies against specific peptides has become an essential tool in proteomic research. The most common carrier proteins are bovine serum albumin (BSA) and keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH).

We offer a wide variety of carrier proteins for the successful generation of antibodies. Our ActiveHOOKproducts include both ActiveHOOK BSA (maleimide activated bovine serum albumin) and ActiveHOOKKLH (maleimide activated keyhole limpet hemocyanin). Both rapidly couple to free sulfhydryl groups on peptides and proteins using just one simple step. These activated carrier proteins save both time and money as separate cross-linkers are not required. Our HyperCarrier uses cationized BSA which has been found to elicit greater immunogenic response compared to normal BSA.

HOOK™  kits are also available for the coupling of peptides to carrier proteins. Both amine reactive and sulfhydryl reactive HOOKPeptide Coupling Kits are offered.

Also available are Immobilized Protein A/GImmobilized Protein A and Immobilized Protein G, each crosslinked to agarose beads.  Or, Protein A Magnetic Beads, Protein G Magnetic Beads, and Protein A/G Magnetic Beads for rapid and affordable isolation of antibodies.

Papain is a cysteine protease enzyme (EC 3.4.22.2) that has the endopeptidase activity to cleave immunoglobulin G molecules in the hinge region.  This cleavage results in the generation of three ~50kDa fragments; two Fab domains and a Fc domain.  The papain-digested antibody is unable to p..

Gene/Protein:
Immobilized protein G is for binding the constant domains of immunoglobulin (Ig) molecules (see Figure 1). It is ideal for the easy one-step purification of classes, subclasses and fragments of immunoglobulins for biological fluids and cell culture media. Protein G is a modified form of Streptococca..

Keyhole limpet hemocyanin is a widely used carrier protein due to its large molecular mass (4.5x105-1.3x107Da aggregates) and large number of primary amines that can react with cross-linkers for the coupling of peptides. The KLH is supplied as a clear to slightly hazy, bluish solution in phosphate b..
