This antibody is intended for in vitro diagnostic (IVD) use.
The Her2/Neu (IHC002) antibody is intended for qualified laboratories to identify by light microscopy the presence of associated antigens in sections of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections using IHC test methods. Use of this antibody is indicated, subsequent to clinical differential diagnoses of diseases, as an aid in the identification of Her2/Neu positive breast cancer or gastric cancer within the context of antibody panels, the patient’s clinical history and other diagnostic tests evaluated by a qualified pathologist.
The Her2/Neu (c-erbB-2) proto-oncogene is a trans- membrane receptor tyrosine kinase that is clinically indicated in a number of carcinomas. Overexpression of the Her2/Neu protein has been associated with ductal breast cancer, as well as pulmonary and gastric adenocarcinomas. A correlation between Her2/Neu and p53 has also been documented, as overexpression of both proteins has been associated with early invasion and metastasis in bladder cancer.
