Gene Name TRIM21 RNF81 RO52 SSA1
Accession No. P19474 Q62191
Description tripartite motif containing 21(TRIM21) Homo sapiens This gene encodes a member of the tripartite motif (TRIM) family. The TRIM motif includes three zinc-binding domains, a RING, a B-box type 1 and a B-box type 2, and a coiled-coil region. The encoded protein is part of the RoSSA ribonucleoprotein, which includes a single polypeptide and one of four small RNA molecules. The RoSSA particle localizes to both the cytoplasm and the nucleus. RoSSA interacts with autoantigens in patients with Sjogren syndrome and systemic lupus erythematosus. Alternatively spliced transcript variants for this gene have been described but the full-length nature of only one has been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008],
Cell Pathway/ Category Systemic lupus erythematosus,
Protein Expression Pancreas,Thymocyte,
Subcellular Localization cytoplasmic mRNA processing body, nucleus, cytoplasm, autophagosome, cytosol,SCF ubiquitin ligase complex, intracellular ribonucleoprotein complex, cytoplasmic vesicle,
Protein Function disease:Sera from patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) or primary Sjoegren syndrome often contain antibodies that react with normal cellular RO protein as if this antigen was foreign.,function:Ribonucleoprotein particle composed of a single polypeptide and one of four small RNA molecules. It is present in all mammalian cells studied but has no known function. At least two isoforms are present in nucleated and red blood cells, and tissue specific differences in RO/SSA proteins have been identified. The common feature of these proteins is their ability to bind HY RNAs.,similarity:Belongs to the TRIM/RBCC family.,similarity:Contains 1 B box-type zinc finger.,similarity:Contains 1 B30.2/SPRY domain.,similarity:Contains 1 RING-type zinc finger.,
