Immobilized Sulfadimidine
Sulfadimidine is a bacteriostatic antimicrobial sulfur drug. It blocks the synthesis of dihydrofolic acid by inhibiting the enzyme dihydropteroate synthase. Sulfadimidine is a competitive inhibitor of bacterial para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), which is required for bacterial synthesis of folic acid.
Immobilized Sulfadimidine is prepared by covalently coupling sulfadimidine to an activated 6% cross-linked agarose and is used in isolation of sulfadimidine binding proteins, receptors and specific antibodies.
