Alkaline Phosphatase is a hydrolase enzyme, which is frequently conjugated to antibodies for its use in immunoassays. p-Nitrophenol phosphate (pNPP) is the most commonly used substrate for Alkaline Phosphatase. Alkaline Phosphatase converts pNPP to p-nitrophenol phosphate (pNP), a colored product, which can measured calorimetrically at 405 nm. Fluorogenic substrates such as 4-methyllumbelliferyl phosphate (MUP) can also be used for the immunoassay.
