MUC2 Antibody IHC

This antibody is intended for in vitro diagnostic (IVD) use.

The MUC2 (IHC624) antibody is intended for qualified laboratories to qualitatively identify by light microscopy the presence of associated antigens in sections of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections using IHC test methods. Use of this antibody is indicated, subsequent to clinical differential diagnoses of diseases, as an aid in the identification of colonic carcinomas within the context of antibody panels, the patient’s clinical history and other diagnostic tests evaluated by a qualified pathologist.

MUC2, also known as Mucin 2, is an intestinal glycoprotein that functions to protect the gut lumen by forming an insoluble mucous barrier. The expression of MUC2 is also found in the colon, breast, prostate, and in gastrointestinal, colonic, breast and prostate neoplasia. Anti-MUC2 stains goblet cells of the colon and colonic carcinomas, normal and neoplastic breast tissues, and with Prostate Adeno- carcinoma.
