Immobilized Gentamicin

Gentamicin inhibits growth of many Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms. It does so by inhibiting protein synthesis by binding to the L6 protein of the 30S ribosomal subunit. It is also effective against mycoplasma.

Immobilized Gentamicin is prepared by covalently coupling gentamicin to an activated 6% cross-linked agarose and is used in isolation of gentamicin binding proteins, receptors and specific antibodies
