TAPS is a zwitterionic buffering agent, effective in making buffer solutions in pH 8.4±0.7. TAPS is used in capillary electrophoresis to separate and analyze DNA and for separating dyes using planar chromatography. The buffer is sterile, economical and ready to use. TAPS is an abbreviation of tris(hydroxymethyl)methylamino]propanesulfonic acid with the formula C7H17NO6S.
