Description
FCCP [Carbonyl cyanide 4-(trifluoromethoxy) phenylhydrazone] is a potent uncoupler of oxidative phosphorylation in mitochondria. It is used as a positive control for mitochondrial membrane depolarization.
FCCP disrupts the synthesis of ATP by trnasporting protons across mitochondrial inner membrane. It depolarizes the mitochondrial membrane potential.
Features:
- Molecular weight:254.17
- Cas number: 370-86-5
- Solubility: Soluble in DMSO (100 mM). Soluble in methanol, ethanol and acetone to 20 mg/ml. Insoluble in water.
- Molecular Formula:C10H5F3N4O
- Stability: Stable at 4°C under desicating conditions for 1 year. Store at -20°C for long term storage. Store the dissolved FCCP in aliquotes at -20°C
- Recomended working concentration of FCCP for cells is 20 µM. It may vary depending on cell types and should be optimized by user
