Description | centrosome and spindle pole associated protein 1(CSPP1) Homo sapiens This gene encodes a centrosome and spindle pole associated protein. The encoded protein plays a role in cell-cycle progression and spindle organization, regulates cytokinesis, interacts with Nephrocystin 8 and is required for cilia formation. Mutations in this gene result in primary cilia abnormalities and classical Joubert syndrome. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene. Protein Expression | Bone marrow,Testis, |
Subcellular Localization | spindle pole,cytoplasm,centrosome,microtubule organizing center,spindle,microtubule, |
Protein Function | developmental stage:Expression of isoform 1 increases throughout the cell cycle and peaks in G2/M phase. Expression of isoform 2 is highest in G1 phase and decreases thereafter.,function:May play a role in cell-cycle-dependent microtubule organization.,PTM:Phosphorylated. Phosphorylation increases in colcemide-treated cells.,subcellular location:Associated with mitotic spindles.,tissue specificity:Detected in testis., |
