Type: Zwitterionic detergent
Full Name: Amidosulfobetaine-14
Molecular Formula: C22H46N2O4S
Molecular Weight: 434.7
Form: White to off white powder
Solubility: Water soluble
Conductivity: <50µS in a 10% solution
Critical micelle concentration (CMC): 8mM (25ºC)
Aminosulfobetaine with C14 alkyl tail.
Useful for solubilizing proteins for 2D analysis.
Optimal solubility achieved in urea-thiourea mixtures and not in urea alone.
Reported to show better protein solubilization properties than CHAPS.
ASB-14 has been shown to solubilize membrane proteins previously undetected.
