Description |
interferon alpha and beta receptor subunit 1(IFNAR1) Homo sapiens The protein encoded by this gene is a type I membrane protein that forms one of the two chains of a receptor for interferons alpha and beta. Binding and activation of the receptor stimulates Janus protein kinases, which in turn phosphorylate several proteins, including STAT1 and STAT2. The encoded protein also functions as an antiviral factor. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008], |

Protein Function |
function:Receptor for interferons alpha and beta. Binding to type I IFNs triggers tyrosine phosphorylation of a number of proteins including JAKs, TYK2, STAT proteins and IFNR alpha- and beta-subunits themselves.,PTM:Phosphorylated on tyrosine residues by TYK2 tyrosine kinase.,sequence caution:Contaminating sequence. Potential poly-A sequence.,similarity:Belongs to the type II cytokine receptor family.,similarity:Contains 3 fibronectin type-III domains.,tissue specificity:IFN receptors are present in all tissues and even on the surface of most IFN-resistant cells. Isoform 1, isoform 2 and isoform 3 are expressed in the IFN-alpha sensitive myeloma cell line U266S. Isoform 2 and isoform 3 are expressed in the IFN-alpha resistant myeloma cell line U266R, isoform 1 is not expressed in U266R., |
