Gene Name FABP7 BLBP FABPB MRG
Accession No. O15540 P51880 P55051
Alternate Names Fatty acid-binding protein, brain (Brain lipid-binding protein) (BLBP) (Brain-type fatty acid-binding protein) (B-FABP) (Fatty acid-binding protein 7) (Mammary-derived growth inhibitor related)
Description fatty acid binding protein 7(FABP7) Homo sapiens The gene encodes a small, highly conserved cytoplasmic protein that bind long-chain fatty acids and other hydrophobic ligands. The encoded protein is important in the establishment of the radial glial fiber in the developing brain. Alternative splicing and promoter usage results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. Pseudogenes of this gene are found on multiple chromosomes. Cell Pathway/ Category PPAR,
Protein Expression Brain,Cajal-Retzius cell,Fetal brain,Fetal brain cortex,Mammary gland,Retin
Subcellular Localization nucleoplasm,cytoplasm,cytosol,cell-cell junction,cell projection,neuronal cell body,cell periphery,
Protein Function domain:Forms a beta-barrel structure that accommodates the hydrophobic ligand in its interior.,function:B-FABP could be involved in the transport of a so far unknown hydrophobic ligand with potential morphogenic activity during CNS development. It is required for the establishment of the radial glial fiber system in developing brain, a system that is necessary for the migration of immature neurons to establish cortical layers.,similarity:Belongs to the calycin superfamily. Fatty-acid binding protein (FABP) family.,tissue specificity:Expressed in brain and other neural tissues.,
