Immobilized Ampicillin (1 Citations)
Ampicillin is an inhibitor of bacterial cell wall synthesis which acts by inhibiting the cross-linking of peptidoglycan. It is used in the selection of antibiotic cell hybrids, and has a high rate of action agaisnt many gram negative bacterial strains.
Immobilized Ampicillin is made by covalently coupling ampicillin to an activated 6% cross-linked agarose. Immobilized Ampicillin can be used for isolation of bacterial proteins that interact with ampicillin. In addition, the resin can act as an affinity purification column for antibodies specific to ampicillin.
