LongLife™ Lysozyme (7 Citations)

Enzymes regularly used in laboratory applications often require preparation of fresh solution before each use. Making fresh enzyme solution for each application is time consuming and wasteful.  A wide variety of enzyme preparations in a ready-to-use format are offered.

LongLife™ enzyme preparations have a long shelf life and no weighing or buffer preparation is needed; simply take an aliquot and add in your sample.  LongLife™ enzyme preparations contain cofactors necessary for optimal enzymatic activity. Supplied in suspension form and when stored properly have a one year shelf life.

Lysozymes, also known as muramidase or N-acetylmuramide glycanhydrolase, are glycoside hydrolases, enzymes (EC 3.2.1.17) that damage bacterial cell walls by catalyzing hydrolysis of 1,4-beta-linkages between N-acetylmuramic acid and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine residues in a peptidoglycan and between N-acetyl-D-glucosamine residues in chitodextrins.

LongLife™ Lysozyme is a ready to use lysozyme preparation, which can be used for spheroplast preparation, lysis of bacterial cells and further extraction of protein and DNA from bacterial cells. Simply take an aliquot and add to your reaction. The total volume of the supplied LongLife™ Lysozyme is 1ml in a concentration of 1,500 Units/µl.
