Sulfadimidine is a bacteriostatic antimicrobial sulfur drug. It blocks the synthesis of dihydrofolic acid by inhibiting the enzyme dihydropteroate synthase. Sulfadimidine is a competitive inhibitor of bacterial para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), which is required for bacterial synthesis of folic acid.
Immobilized Sulfadimidine is prepared by covalently coupling sulfadimidine to an activated 6% cross-linked agarose and is used in isolation of sulfadimidine binding proteins, receptors and specific antibodies.
Sulfadimidine coupled to 6% cross-linked Agarose
Coupling is covalent through linkage of amino or carboxyl group depending upon the antibiotic to the pre-activated agarose.
Available in 5 ml and 10 ml sizes
Immobilized Sulfadimidine is used for purification of sulfadimidine binding proteins or receptors or specific antibodies.
